The
Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Ambattur was established in 1962. It is
a first of its kind institution in the former Chengalpet District. Now it is
part of Chennai Corporation Zone 7 Ambattur. The Institute located near the
Ambattur bus depot has a sprawling campus measuring 28 grounds.
The sad part is
that there no care or improvement has been undertaken till date.
The campus has
turned into a grazing ground for cattle and goats. Lake of facilities irks the
staff and students. Mr.K.Ramadoss, social activist and president of North
Chennai District Exnora Suggested that the government to take stock of the
situation and consider Constructing and Engineering College in the Campus.
The
vacant site of 13.5 acres in ward 86, ICF colony Amabttur can be used for
starting an Arts and science college for the benefit of the people in Ambattur.
programme is advantageous for the companies as it gives them an opportunity to assess the performance of the trainees and subject to availability, suitable trainees could be considered for placement.
