A long
pending plea for bus service towards Villivakkam railway station is still to
happen. Earlier a single bus used to ply between Ayanavaram and Villivakkam
railway station.
It was temporarily suspended by the government due to the
construction of a subway at Villivakkam. Though the Villivakkam subway was
opened by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha on 19th June 2012, no new bus
has been introduced.
The Villivakkam subway has been opened for traffic. The
area residents request the Metropolitan Transport Corporation to re- introduce
route number 20M bus service from Villivakkam to Perambur through the recently
opened Villivakkam subway.
A majority of Villivakkam residents stated that
since the subway had been completed and opened for traffic, the State
Government should take steps to operate buses between Villivakkam Bus Terminus
and Perambur through the subway linking Srinivasa Nagar. If Metropolitan
Transport Corporation starts to operate
buses to Villivakkam through the subway it would be very helpful for
commuters going towards Villivakkam railway station.
