Mahaveer Jayanti is regarded as the main Jain festival of the year. The festival is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Mahaveer. The entire Jain community celebrates Mahaveer Jayanti in a big grand manner.
On the occasion of Mahaveer Jayanthi ,5th April 2012, with elders blessing, Shree AnnaNagar Jain Navyuvak Mandal, had organised and sponsored a free refreshment distribution programme which included giving of sweets, snacks, juice, buttermilk, Lemon rice, water melon, biscuits etc to the general public.
The distribution which began at 6.30am went on till evening 5pm. Last year, 3000 people got benefited, this year more than 5000 people got benefited.
