The Tamil Nadu Budget for the year 2012-2013 will be presented on 26 March by State Finance Minister O Panneerselvam. State Governor Rosaiah will make a formal announcement in this regard soon. After AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa was sworn in as Chief Minister in April 2011, the first session of the newly-formed government took place on 23 May. The Budget for the last year was presented on 4 August which was followed by discussions on the floor of the House and the session continued till 14 September. During the proceedings, the Chief Minister replied to various queries raised by the members of the Assembly. On 15 December last year, a special session was convened for a day.Meanwhile, the Budget session for the year will begin on 26 March.
In a press release here, Jamaludeen, secretary, Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly, said, 'The Budget session will be convened on 26 March. The Budget will be presented on the occasion'. Panneerselvam would table the Budget. Various welfare schemes were announced in the last year's Budget and the Chief Minister has been taking allout efforts to successfully implement them. This year's Budget is also expected to spell out more welfare schemes. Announcements regarding increasing power generation, priority for agricultural sector, providing more employment opportunities for women and youth are expected to figure this time.
