Awarded The Pace Scholarship For The year 2012

Three champion sailors from Tamil Nadu Sailing Association, K C Ganapathy, Varsha Gautham and Aishwarya Nedu have been awarded the Pace Scholarship for the year 2012.

Ganapathy has been one of the top sailors in the Optimist class and finished 6th in the Asian Games in China in 2010, bringing the best result for India until now in this class. He now sails the 29er class with Varun Thakkar and finished 2nd in the India International Regatta 2011 held in Chennai. 

Aishwarya was the girls Champion in the 4.7 class in 2010 Coastal Nationals and Varsha was the overall champion in the 4.7 class in the Inland Nationals in 2011. The two paired up to lift the 29er trophy in the India International Regatta 2011. 

The three sailors went through several rounds of intense selection processes to pick 21 athletes from among more than 150 applicants. GoSports Foundation has announced the winners of PACE Scholarships for several sports categories. 

These Scholarships have been instituted to support the Olympic aspirations of the next generation of Indian sporting stars aged between 13 and 21.The winners was drawn after a rigorous selection process that included physical assessments conducted by some of the best fitness experts. 

This was followed by skills assessment specific to each sport, personality assessment tests and personal interviews conducted by a panel of experts that included sports fitness expert Shayamal Vallabhjee, sports psychologist Mr. Bhishmaraj Bam, sports Lawyer and Managing Trustee of GoSports Foundation Nandan Kamath, and Trustee of GoSports Foundation Abhishek Laxminarayan. GoSports Foundation has put in place a methodical selection process to ensure that the most deserving athletes receive support to realize their Olympic dreams.
