Nethrodaya (an NGO in Mogappair helping the visually challenged) conducted a State-level singing competition for the visually challenged on 11th January 2012.
The competition winner was Srilekha.The runner-up was Vishnupriya.The guests of honour, Tipu, Harini (playback singers) and Sathya (music composer) gave away the prizes.
Nethrodaya provides a host of career-enabling facilities to underprivileged boys and girls, most of them hailing from rural areas. Nethrodaya was founded, and is run by, Govinda Krishnan, who is visually challenged himself. Nethrodaya is at Nolambur Phase II,Mogappair West, Chennai-37.
