Due to the ongoing Chennai Metro Rail and Thirumangalam flyover works, 13th Main Road, Anna Nagar has been converted into a one-way expressway. There is non-stop traffic movement thought out the day.
The area residents on the street feel the vibrations of buses and lorries. There is noise pollution. More because of the heavy traffic, it difficult for pedestrians to cross the road.
Parking is another problem. Even the 13th Main Road stretch from Shanthi Colony Main Road and Second Avenue Road has heavy flow, as many motorists use this stretch, to avoid the 100 Feet Road signal. There are many residential apartments, offices complex, Schools and hospitals located along 13th Main Road making the entire stretch chaotic and highly accident prone.
