Underground Tunnel Construction On 2nd Avenue Road

Specially designed latest Tunnel Boring Machines from China  is soon going to be used to build the underground section of Metro Rail project along the Anna Nagar Second Avenue Road stretch. 

In due course, more such machines would arrive in the city and all  would be deployed simultaneously to build the  underground section of the Metro Rail network. 

Full-fledged underground tunneling is expected to begin from February 2012 onwards. Each mechanism has a rotating cutting wheel, which will do the tunneling. The second Chennai Metro Rail corridor between Central and Thirumangalam ramp, runs as underground tunnels. 

There will be  20 would be underground stations. Tunneling will not lead to any environment problems. Precautionary measures to ensure safety of the building and structures will be given importance.
