The Inner Ring Road (IRR) ( Jawaharlal Nehru Road ) is a major transportation stretch between Thirumangalam, Anna Nagar, Ambattur and Koyambedu. The photograph shows a new strong high raised road center divider is under construction at 100 Feet Road in Koyambedu, near CMBT and Marker Road junction.
The new divider will help in solving the problem of risky crossing of motorists and pedestrians through the median gaps.
Also the present position of the median is low lying and damaged at many parts. The efforts of the Traffic Police and Highways Department to construct dividers at busy stretches in Koyambedu has well with many road-users.
It is reported that the motorists plying on New Avadi Road that connects Villivakkam and Kilpauk, often face the risk of accidents as granite slabs are left on road for several days now due to incomplete median construction work. Construction of granite central medians would help in minimizing violation of road rules.
