Traffic Signal Removed Below Padi Flyover

The primary purpose of constructing the flyover is to enable vehicles to avoid traffic junction at the signal junction. After center portion below the Padi flyover was blocked to restricted to vehicles from taking  U-turn beneath the flyover, the traffic signal was no more needed and was an hindrance for the motorists coming from Red Hills  toward Anna Nagar and Thirumangalam.

As soon as the Padi Flyover was opened for vehicle movement, the Chennai Traffic Police made changes in traffic regulations at the Padi junction. Even now, vehicles from Redhills, Padi and Villivakkam are not supposed to use the service lanes opposite to the Singaram Pillai Higher Secondary School.

Till today there is no  wall built  adjacent to the railway track to prevent  vehicle from Red Hills can take a free left beneath the flyover to proceed to Villivakkam. The pedestrian path is also incomplete. Many vehicle users said the Padi flyover had reduced traffic congestion.
