Divider Shifted For Metro Rail Work

The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has started shifting the road dividers along Anna Nagar Second Avenue Road  for the project. The road median between 12th Main Road and Thirumangalam signal junction is  first to be shifted. The median  being shifted to facilitate the construction of the  underground station  for the Metro Rail. 

 A temporary divider facilities has been erected. Motorists are advised to drive carefully and slowly since  there is an  reduction in available road space. 

The Phase-I of the Metro Rail project has underground tunnels, most of which will run beneath Jawaharlal Nehru Salai, Mount Road, Anna Nagar Second Avenue Road and Poonamallee High Road. 

The  work on the underground sections will be by Tunnel Boring Machines. Chennai Metro Rail project consists of two corridors with elevated viaducts and underground tunnels. It will have  underground metro railway stations and  elevated metro railway stations.
