Chennai Corporation To Repair Battered Stretches

The Chennai Corporation will take up measures to relay damaged road stretches at a cost of 50 crores. The Chennai corporation will take up the work after the monsoon. The bus route road department of the Chennai Corporation has been assigned the task of making bad roads motorable with a clean and smooth surface. 
Some of the roads which will get re-laid is the Konnur High Road, Purasawalakm High Road, Choolai High Road, New Avadi Road, Kolathur Main Road, Kilpauk Garden Road, Kaliamman Koil Street, Velachery main road, St.Marys Road etc. 

City Mayor Saidai S.Duraisamy stated that Chennai Corporation will ensure that city is provided with good quality roads. 

 North Chennai residents stated that the rains has flooded and damaged main busy roads in Vyasarapadi, Manali, Perambur, Madhavaram, Thiruvottiyur High road and the Ennore Expressway. 

The Chennai Corporation started doing patch up work along several rain damaged roads as a temporary measure. The civic workers used broken bricks to cover potholes. It is reported that a total of 292.16kms interior roads in the city would be repaired. 

At some place blue metal and bitumen was poured into uneven spots. Chennai Corporation maintains bus route roads up to 318kms and concrete roads of 213kms. The civic body plans to relay 121 bus route roads after the monsoon rains are over.
