The percentage of road lights that do not function in the city roads has come down a lot. Thanks to the timely maintenance work by the Chennai Corporation.
The photograph shows the Civic body replacing fused bulbs along the 100 Feet Road, near Koyambedu CMBT. According to the Chennai Corporation sources the functioning of the Electricity Department has been reviewed recently and officials are told to attend and solve problems immediately.
The city residents can dial the helpline number 1913 to complain about non-functioning road lights and it will be attended as soon as possible.
Maintenance work on road lights in Anna Nagar, Mogappair and Koyambedu are done on a regular basis.
Chennai Corporation has also installed High Mass lamps based upon the request of the Traffic Police Department wherever there is insufficient lighting at traffic junctions.
