New Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses are now been operated along route number 7M, 7H, M27, D70 and in many more routes in Chennai city.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has added 196 new buses in the fleet of the State Transport Corporations and also unveiled 106 new routes across the State.
The Chief Minister visited the Metropolitan Transport Corporation Central Depot in Chennai to flag off the new buses and bus routes.
Out of these 196 buses, 36 were allotted to MTC- Chennai. State Transport Minister Senthil Balaji, Chief Secretary Devendranath Sarangi and other officials took part in the inauguration function.
Some of the new buses include services from Red Hills to Periamet, Kilkaranai to Tambaram, additional routes on the Old Mahabalipuram Road and from Tambaram and Poonamallee and to Villivakkam. MTC officials said the new routes had been decided based on requests from the public.
