The photo taken shows the Shree Jain Mahila Mandal free water booth located near Anna Nagar West MTC bus depot. This water booth was inaugurated by Shri S.Sripal, IPS, ( Chairman PTC) in the year 1991.There are many water boots which have been established by the Jain community to offer purified drinking water at various places in Chennai city for the benefit of poor people and public.
The free water provides a relief to bus passengers and bus crew. Every day the water pots are washed and cleaned before filling fresh water into the pots. A lot of people drink water from this booth including auto drivers and MTC bus staff. The booth is located in front of the Guild of Service Home for the Handicapped.
