Tracks Used For Moving New I.C.F Coaches

The photograph shows the Anna Nagar railway line used by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Perambur, for moving newly built coaches from shell to furnishing division factory.

Anna Nagar, a residential colony in the city, was  put on the railway network with the opening of a broad gauge line from Beach Railway Station to Anna Nagar. It is reported that the Southern Railway is planning to revive the  3.09 km-long train services from Anna Nagar to Villivakkam.

Earlier suburban train service were being run from Anna Nagar railway station to Beach railway station via Villivakkam, Perambur, Washermanpet  and Royapuram. The Southern Railway  plans to resume it because of the increasing road traffic between Anna Nagar.

The train service from Anna Nagar to Brach was inaugurated in 2003. The Anna Nagar and Padi railway stations today wear a deserted look.
