The Rajasthan Cosmo Club distributed 23,501 sets of new school uniforms (conservatively valued over Rs. 70 Lakhs) on Sunday, the 19th of June 2011 at a grand function held at Raja Annamalai Mandaram, Esplande Road, Chennai -600108.
Thiru D Jayakumar, Speaker, TamilNadu Legislature Assembly, graced the occasion as Chief Guest.Thiru N. Balaganga, Member of Parliament was the Guest of Honor. Shri Champalal Sarda, Chairman of Sri Maheswari Hospital & Research Centre Trust has also attended the programme and applauded the members.
He also encouraged the members by announcing a donation of Rs. 100,000.Shri T.R. Achha, President Rajasthan Cosmo Club, welcomed the gathering and informed that under New school uniforms scheem, the foundation has so far distributed more than 100,000 new school uniforms tentatively valued at almost Rs. 3 Crores in today’s value.
New School Uniform Chairman, Jagdish Sarda informed that 305 schools, mostly corporation schools from in and around Chenani, benefited from the same. About 8 different patterns, and more than 153 colours and styles were used in preparation of these uniforms.
Sunil Chopra, Managing Trustee informed more than 35,000 man hours were involved in the preparations of uniforms. 54,200 metres of fabric was used for the making of uniforms. More than 2000 invitees graced the occasion including school students, friends from society, members and guests.Praveen Nahar, Secretary RCCF proposed the vote of thanks.
