Sports is equally important with academics. Students should try to be top achievers in academics and sports as well. Taking note on the importance of sports and games, M.K.Iqbal, Director AVM Cricket Academy, while speaking at the weekly meetings of the Rotary club of Madras East at Park Sheraton emphasized that a portion of profit derived from IPL tournaments should be spent for the promotion of selected games in the schools at the IPL Franchise areas.
He observed that an effective plan should be worked out by BCCI thereby the deserved and potential schools in the capital cities should be benefited. He also cautioned that there may be scarcity of past bowlers in the country not in the distant future and BCCI should establish Pace Foundations in U.P., Haryana, Punjab and Delhi similar to MRF Pace Foundation at Chennai.
While monitoring the yeoman service rendered by the past Presidents of TNCA particularly Late.S.Sriraman, Late M.A.Chidambaram and Mr.Balu Alagannan for the promotion of cricket in Tamil Nadu he informed the gathering that the present president Mr.N.Srinivasan is doing an excellent job by not only designing a modern stadium at Chepauk and conducting all matches with perfect planning.
Mr. Iqbal also requested Rotary Club, East Madras to adopt few schools for the development of sports among the school children. Earlier, the club felicitated the young student who visited NASA in USA to expand their knowledge on space rockets.
