Animated Children’s Film Wins PETA Award

For conveying an unmistakable message of compassion for animals, the animated children's film The Green Chic – Finding Dad has won a Proggy Award in the category of Most Animal-Friendly Film from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India. PETA's Proggy Awards ("Proggy" stands for "progress") recognise animal-friendly achievements in commerce and culture. 

The makers of the film, Koffee Break Pictures Ltd, who also made the popular children's movie My Friend Ganesha, will receive a framed certificate and will be featured on PETA India's website.The Green Chic – Finding Dad, which opens 24 June, is the story of a family of chickens who are living happily in the jungle until a hunter kills the mother and takes the father captive. His young son, Chiclet, sets out on a trek to Mumbai to find and rescue his father, accompanied by his animal friends. 

There is even a scene in which the team starts out on its mission dressed as PETA activists! The film teaches children that animals suffer physically and psychologically when they are the victims of abuse by humans. Actor and honorary PETA director Pamela Anderson said of the film, "If every kid in the world watched The Green Chic – Finding Dad, the world would be a better place." Actor Jackie Shroff says, “The Green Chic—Finding Dad is entertaining while also encouraging young people to show compassion for all living beings.”

"The Green Chic shows children that animals are as loving of and devoted to their families as we are and that they deserve to be respected, not abused", says PETA India's Chief Functionary, Poorva Joshipura. "This film will undoubtedly leave kids with a lasting appreciation for animals, and we're delighted to recognize the makers for their important contribution to fostering compassion."
