St.Luke’s Church at 2nd Avenue, Anna Nagar is owned by Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore since 1970. The premises were temporarily handed over to the Society of St.Paul to do religious services as long as the Archbishop wishes.
The Society of St.Paul has constructed a church as Divine Mercy Church in their land at Anna Nagar East. The Archbishop has informed the Society’s Head and Parish Priest Fr.Gregory, that with effect from 22nd May 2011, the Archdiocese will take over St.Luke’s Church for administrative reasons since the present St.Luke’s parish consists of more than 2500 Catholic families.
A new Divine Mery Parish will be carvedout of the present St.Lukes Church.The Archbishop has appointed Rev.Fr.Martin, aged 60 as the new Parish Priest of St.Luke’s Church. He was ordained on 23-01-1977. He has served as Parish Priest at Vedanthangal, Chromepet, T.Nagar and Nesapakkam. Now he is serving as secretary at Christ College, Kilacherry.
