Anna Nagar is one of the finest residential localities in Chennai. The trees on all roads and avenues makes Anna Nagar a walker’s paradise. But there are many slanting road side trees along Anna Nagar Avenue roads, which are posing a danger to life and smooth flow of traffic.
The tree branches jutting out across the pavement prevents the pedestrians from walking on the pavement. They have to get down and walk on the road at a great risk. There are also three trees found just 4-5 feet from the pavement on the road.
It is correct that avenue trees should not be cut down indiscriminately. But when they pose a danger to human lives, the authorities must act. It is high time that they uprooted the trees and replanted them elsewhere.
