At present the vehicle users taking Inner Ring Road (IRR) have to bear with more congestion in Thirumangalam but for a good reason. The flyover work by the State Highways department has started for the construction of a flyover along IRR, connecting two signals at Anna Nagar II Avenue-IRR and Mogappair Road-IRR junctions.
The flyover will come as a relief to motorists. The flyover connecting the two intersections in Thirumangalam is essential. But the regular road users are worried about traffic problems they are facing during construction of the flyover.
Of late there is daily traffic congestion at the Thirumangalam signal, especially along the Inner Ring Road and the Anna Nagar II avenue stretch. Traffic congestion is at this point is a daily ordeal.
A large numbers of pedestrians are found waiting on both sides of the road, to cross the road. It is a difficult task for people, particularly the elderly and children, to cross this junction. The number of vehicles moving both on Inner Ring Road and Anna Nagar II Avenue is heavy on all directions.
According to the highways department, the construction of a flyover on Inner Ring Road to connect two traffic signal points at Anna Nagar II Avenue and Mogappair-Thirumangalam Main Road is going on.
Traffic constables at the Thirumangalam junction are on the job regulating the steady heavy flow of vehicle movement and ensuring pedestrian safety, particularly during peak hours. The intersection of Inner Ring Road and Anna Nagar 2nd Avenue Thirumangalam during peak hours is chaotic.
The new flyover that will come up on the inner ring road at the junction connecting Thirumangalam, Anna Nagar 2nd avenue. The flyover project, once completed is aimed to ease traffic flow. Inner ring road which connects National Highways, witnesses traffic snarls.
