Youth Workshop On Climate Change

A youth workshop on climate change titled “A Step Towards Future” was organized on 18th May, 2012 at ICSA, Jeevana Jyoti premises, Chennai by SCI-India Tamilnadu Group, SCI Italy and ICWO. The workshop gave the youth a chance to be the part of a world movement on an important subject of Climate Change. Speeches were given by experts on Climate change and there were interactive sessions. 

The workshop commenced with the inauguration by Mr. Jayaprakash SCI-India. Mr.A.G.Janarathanam, Mr.R.Ravikumar, Mr.Sivajanam and Mr.Babu from SCI Tamilnadu participated in the workshop. 

Mr.A.J.Hariharan stated that youth need to come forward to fight against global warming. International students as well as Students from various colleges like Stella Maris, Mar Gregorios, St.Josephs, D.G.Vaishnav and Hindustan College of Arts and Sciences , Patrician College, University of Madurai actively participated in the workshop. New Chennai Corporation Parks For Ambattur

Landscape development of 100 new parks in added areas of Chennai Corporation is on the anvil. New parks will come up at an estimated cost of Rs. 30 crore in eight newly added zones of Chennai Corporation, namely Tiruvottiyur, Manali, Madhavaram and Ambattur. 

The new parks with innovative landscape, herbal garden and playground would come up on pieces of land, some of which are as big as 96 grounds in Elango Nagar of Ambattur. 

According to Chennai Corporation official sources, the newly added areas have as many as 265 pieces of land that are suitable for development of parks. 

Many of the parks are being developed on OSR land. Chennai Corporation officials informed that the work on landscape development of the parks would commence in all the eight newly added zones simultaneously.

Thirumangalam Flyover Work In Fast Progress

The construction work of the 805-metre-long Thirumangulam flyover along Inner Ring Road, connecting two signals at Anna Nagar Second Avenue-IRR and Mogappair Road-IRR Thirumangalam junctions is in fast progress. The state highways department's decision to build a flyover will come as a relief to motorists.

The flyover is aimed to facilitate smooth flow of traffic. The project in Thirumangalam is estimated to cost about Rs.60.23 crores. The flyover will be open for traffic in two years.
