Barricades installed Along The Open Drain At AE Block


The Storm Water Drainage System is built to prevent water stagnation in roads. A storm water drain is under construction at AE Block, 6th Street, Anna Nagar.

To ensure public safety, the civic authorities have installed warning boards  

A caution notice has been placed along the open drain pits since it is posing danger to pedestrians and motorists. Residents, hope that the work gets completed at the earliest.

Its Christmas Time!

The photo shows a  decorated Christmas tree at the premises  of St.Luke's Church, Anna Nagar. 

The Christmas tree is a decorated evergreen coniferous tree, traditionally brought into the home and decorated with  ornaments, garlands, tinsel, and gifts during the days around Christmas.

An angel or star is placed at the top of the tree, representing the host of angels or the Star of Bethlehem from the Nativity. 

The Christmas tree is  a perfect symbol of the fast approaching Christmas celebration

International Film Festival


The Tamil Nadu government presented a sum of Rs 25 lakh towards expenses of the ninth edition of Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF), scheduled here in Chennai from 14 to 22 December. Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa presented a cheque for the amount to Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation director Thangaraj at the Secretariat. 

The forum has been organising the film festival for the past eight years. Thangaraj was accompanied by MLA and Nadigar Sangam president Sarath Kumar, actresses Suhasini Mani Ratnam and Lissy Priyadharshan among others. 

The festival will showcase 154 films from 45 countries. Suhasini Mani Ratnam, said, 'Categorised into World Cinema, Retrospective, Country focus and Indian Panorama, the offering will be varied. Tamil feature films and many national award-winning films would also be screened.

Metro Rail Picks Up Speed In Anna Nagar


Driving along Anna Nagar Second Avenue stretch from Thirumangalam to Chintamani  is going to be a trying experience in the coming months as Metro Rail has underground station work at 12th Main Road and near Blue Star junction. 

The MTC has  shifted the stops along Second Avenue to Shanthi Colony Main Road. Full-scale work will begin after January 2012.By then, tunnel boring machines will be employed. 

The underground stations will be carried out in a phased manner to minimize congestion.
